Am absolutely devastated. On Saturday p.m, Tinkerbell, one of the orphaned pups I've been raising since June and who was so close to release, had to be pts. Both she and Little Amal, from the same roost, were living in the bat flight, and early on Saturday...
I read reviews whenever I am making a purchase, I find them invaluable especially if I am on a website that I don't know so well. I use one review site frequently: Trust Pilot Review Page, and thought it would be good to include it on my website too. I am now...
Received a cat-attacked bat with neck and shoulder wound plus a fractured finger. After fluids and pain relief he rallied but late afternoon started to deteriorate. Cats catch wildlife and cat saliva is deadly and kills. I believe this is what was slowly killing my...
Chuffed to bits as two of my girls (Pips) did the first all-nighter in the bat flight last night. I popped down to check on them at midnight and was pleased to see one flying. This a.m neither were in the box I'd initially placed them: they'd selected a different box...
Berry was found injured and grounded behind dustbins and delivered to me as a rescue in January 2022. She recovered well and with the arrival of Springtime and warmer evenings I was preparing her for release. Berry had different ideas though and within days of release...
Two of the four oaks we have planted over the past three years. I photographed them earlier in the year. More photos to come as I couldn't believe how much they have grown this past month. They have really shot up.
All my rescues are still enjoying their milk feeds and I’ll continue to provide milk at meal times until they each decide they’re no longer interested. Tonight two bats also started self-feeding on mealies, and two flew in the flight for the first time and appeared to...
Still a long way to go with this one, but great to be back in the studio again.
An interesting start to the day. I have collected a new bat box and a rescued pipistrelle at the same time... a different sort of BOGOF deal: Buy One, Get One Free! Coincidentally from the same address too. The finder has named the little bat, Ness. Sadly it...
A new addition to this month's finances. I needed new 'Handling Bags' to help keep my batties calm when weighing them before and after each meal. It also prevents escapees as they can tuck away in the folds of the bag, for a few minutes whilst I transport them back to...
Unfortunately, the video is rather blurry but it gives you an idea of how each little bat or bat pup is fed. Bryony had been left on a wall overnight. She was covered in mites on arrival and reluctant to move or eat. Initially, pups have 5 - 6 feeds per day, and as...
My Glastonbury girl, Little Amal, flew tonight. Because she's been reticent to fly, I took the puppy playpen into the bat flight in case she didn't feel brave enough to fly in the big wide world. I also placed a soft cover on the flight floor in case she venture out...
Another little Pip pup has arrived; sadly crawling with mites. She was seen on the side of the finder's house at 8 p.m yesterday and was still in the same spot this a.m. Thank you Madelaine for rescuing and delivering. After administering rehydration fluid plus a...
It was lovely to see a hare lolloping through the long grass in the garden toward our pond a few days ago, and a couple of nights later Brian went out to lock the gate and spotted a hare on the driveway. The following night, he went out and the hare was there again,...
22.30 UPDATE: Yay! We're so pleased and relieved. Half an hour ago, 'twixt feeding the bats in the bat flight, and feeding my newly arrived orphaned bat pups, I popped into the kitchen to make a cup of tea and couldn't believe my eyes. Blue was pacing around...
