Blue’s Lucky Escape

Oct 27, 2021 | Family, Larmer Tree Studio, Wildlife

This is the damage caused by the branch that whacked Blue from his perch during the recent bad weather. Blue, our orphaned peacock, roosts in this tree most nights. The damage to the fence below was extensive and the branch so heavy that it separated an ancient ornate iron fence post from its base. Thankfully Blue was not seriously injured – initially, we were unsure, as he couldn’t put weight on his foot and his leg was swollen.  There is always food available for him, but we made sure he received extra goodies in order to prevent him from having to forage.  The poor chap was definitely shaken up by his experience as he stayed close to home for a good few days, but am pleased to say the swelling is now reducing and he is not limping so badly
