It is important that all rescues are able to take off from the ground should they inadvertently become grounded. A healthy bat can take off from the ground; and in the safety of my bat flight, this pipistrelle was preparing to take flight and flew well. Unless they are sick or injured, bats are not often seen on the ground.
If you find a bat on the floor or in an exposed place, it probably needs your help. In order to rescue the bat and keep it safe please follow the guidelines in this Bat Conservation Trust link.
