I’ve just stepped out of the house to take our furry buddy for a walk and heard the sound of a horn …the hunt is in a nearby wood. The horn sounded again and then that awful, bloodcurdling sound of the dogs baying like crazy. I could also hear the quad bikes and tried to keep up but lost them. Later on, whilst walking along a woodland track, I saw a couple of riders and redcoats through the trees but again they soon disappeared into adjacent woodland, leaving deer and a couple of hares running scared.
As a result of the recently leaked Avon Vale footage of a fox being thrown to a pack of hounds, the British Hound Sports Association (BHSA) have been forced to ban terrier work for the rest of the season pending a “review”. This begs the question as to why terrier men on a couple of quad bikes were today accompanying the Portman hunt.
