Pipistrelle bat flying above the garden…. with a couple of feeding buzzes thrown in.

Pip Echolocating

This evening, I’ve just finished the first part of my 2021 Brown long-eared bat maternity roost count. Will repeat it again in a few weeks. Twenty years ago, I counted 34 bats at this site and each year since, the number has dropped until 0 bats last year. I couldn’t believe it. So, I was delighted tonight to see 5 BLE’s leave the roost to forage. A huge relief, and here’s hoping the next count there will be even more. Whilst out I also recorded Common and Soprano Pips and a Serotine doing a fly-by. 🦇🦇🦇
