New arrival

Apr 23, 2020 | Diary, Wildlife

As the saying goes, ‘Life is what happens whilst you are busy making other plans’.

Am bat rescuing again.  I’ve missed being with the bats and always intended returning to help, but as it’s been so full-on since my parents passing, plus a poorly husband – I hadn’t intended starting again quite so soon.

I received a call from a local lady today saying that  she had a poorly Pipistrelle.  Sadly the bat had been cat attacked the night before and as she couldn’t get hold of me she’d placed it on a flat roof overnight. The bat was still there baking in the sunshine this a.m.  I rescued the bat, but she was shutting down and didn’t look good…. I also realised there was a problem with her right leg. I managed to give her fluids, painkiller, some rest, then more fluids etc…. and am delighted to say by the end of the day she had accepted some food.. so far so good.   Fingers crossed that she will be okay.  In the photo, she had chosen to snooze on the warmth from the heat pad in her new home.
