Wolf and Prey

Original Painting Medium: Graphite Pencil
Scientific Name: Canis lupus
Region: Northern hemisphere
My artwork, ‘Wolf and Prey’, is a pencil portrait. The artwork shows the wolf feeling threatened: his facial expression and stance are a clear warning to stay away. Wolves are highly defensive of their food and will growl and snarl at anything or anyone that approaches. A snarl displaying teeth serves as a communication tool and doesn’t necessarily mean that the wolf wishes to fight. His body language is clear; he is telling the intruder to back-off.
My wolf drawing was produced for the book, ‘A New Era for Wolves and People’ by Dr. Marco Musiani.
