I have always loved dogs, and have always had a furry four-legged friend by my side.  in 1989 started my career as a Pet Portrait artist; drawing mainly pet dog portraits. Man’s association with the wolf stems back 1,000+ years and has subsequently led to our modern-day relationship with dogs.

I have actively supported wildlife conservation groups for the past 50 years, and since becoming a Wildlife Artist have always dreamed of illustrating a book for a conservation society.  In 2006, I was delighted to be invited to illustrate two books on Wolf Conservation written by Marco Musiani.  My love of dogs and my journey into the world of art had brought me back full circle; to the beginning of man’s relationship with our furry four-legged friends.

Through this commission, I met Denise Taylor, and John Denness from the UK Wolf Conservation Trust, who subsequently became good friends. Denise kindly provided the photograph used as a reference for my wolf pastel drawing, and in 2009 my ‘Wolf Portait’ artwork was selected as a Finalist in the ‘BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year’ competition.

To have the opportunity to study wolves for this project, to walk with wolves, and to portray this noble wolf was a very special experience.
