Happy Birthday to meee ..... and a Happy Birthday to All Fellow Capricornians!

December 16th
Thank you to all who have placed orders for Greetings Cards and Fine Art Prints. Wishing you All a Happy Christmas!
December 15th
Have been busy with artwork orders plus Christmassy bits so no drawing for the past 10 days or so. In spare moments have also been playing around with the overall design of my MySpace page and think there is a slight improvement. Am also pleased to have found a positive to the MySpace site - Sir David Attenborough has a page too!
December 8th
Received an enquiry from someone on MySpace about artwork. Fine, apart from the fact that this particular individual also has a short video clip on his page showing a deer grazing in woodland being shot at with some sort of bolt. How someone can gain pleasure from participating in this sort of activity or even wish to show this sort of footage is beyond me. Killing for pleasure or watching something being killed for pleasure is sick! I suppose sites such as MySpace are going to attract the good and the bad.
December 7th
Today two people have introduced themselves on MySpace. Both interested in artwork and animal welfare, which was a nice surprise.
December 6th
Sketching my wolf again today, good fun. Christmas shopping plus Christmas preparations are also calling, must get cracking with these bits soon.
December 5th
Initially found MySpace a little confusing but soon got the hang of it and have uploaded images etc. Whilst looking around found a group discussing Environment/Zoology etc.which was interesting. Am working on a wolf sketch. Have always wanted to portray a wolf so it is lovely to have finally started.
December 2nd
Everyone has been chatting about it, so, decided to give it a whirl ..... Not quite sure what blogging involves, but should you wish to blog, say Hi, or share your news and views on the meaning of Liff, Art etc. please feel free.

Painting again!!!!!
November 16th
Displayed my artwork at the Rushmore Park Golf Club Christmas Fair today. The event included stands with handmade jewellery, handbags, scarves, cards plus a Natural Therapy stand. Initially the weather was extremely wet but thankfully brightened up later in the day. Rushmore Park is picturesque at anytime of year and at present the trees in their autumnal colours are stunning. Thank you to Mandy and to those that braved the elements.
November 8th
Have been busy recently with orders in preparation for Christmas. Also preparing for the Rushmore Park Event next week - so no painting, unfortunately.
September 24th
Heard the very sad news that yesterday, 22 people, many of them dedicated conservationists working with World Wide Fund for Nature - lost their lives in a helicopter disaster in Nepal. Dr Claude Martin, Director General of WWF International said that they were real heroes "those who understood there will be no future for humanity without respect for nature and our fellow beings on this planet, and those that humbly and persistently worked towards their conviction."
September 17th
Had a 'great' day at Larmer Tree and met some lovely festival folk. A Big Thank You to All who popped in to the Studio to say Hi, it was good fun and super to see you.
Having only recently learned of Charlie Parr, (from the festival website), and having bought and played non-stop his CD, King Earl - it would be an understatement to say that I was looking forward to seeing him.
Charlie Parr plays original and traditional 1920's blues, folk and ragtime music and the setting, the Garden Stage, late on Sunday afternoon could not have been better. Sitting on the lawn in the evening sunshine, supping a Somerset Cider, whilst listening to Charlie Parr accompanying himself on his 12 string guitar was well worth waiting for. Brilliant. Thank you to Charlie and to Simon and Sofia!

I was stunned and saddened to hear the news about Steve Irwin. I didn't necessarily agree with all his antics and I dislike most zoos but, he seemed like a nice guy and his enthusiasm for promoting wildlife and conservation outweighed many of the bits that I didn't agree with. My thoughts are with his wife and family.
August 24th
My pencil drawing of 'Kindersong', a Warmblood horse, is now on the site. Many thanks to Tracey, Bug, Sally and David.

Each year, during the month of July, a festival takes place at the Larmer Tree Gardens and the gardens are closed. Under normal circumstances this should mean more time for me to concentrate on artwork. As Mum is about to have a knee operation and my daughter Katie is to be married on July 29th, all commissions and ideas re: artwork are on hold, again. Where does the time go to...
June 29th
Am delighted to say that as June has progressed it has proven to be my busiest month yet. Thank you to all who popped in. After a slow start - t'was much appreciated!

For the past two years we have been building a cottage and as anticipated, it has left little or no time for wildlife artwork & pet portraits. Long walks, nature watching, photography and everything else for that matter have been on hold. As we are almost finished though, I am now able to concentrate on my painting and drawing once again, yippee! It has been a long time......... also the cottage looks a treat, well done Brian!
Feb 23rd
When revisiting a website it can be disappointing to find that nothing has changed since your previous visit. For friends just popping by, I have included a Site Update on my 'Nature in Art' home page to indicate when alterations/additions were last included. Have also included a number of photos of my studio space, artwork on display in my lounge/gallery plus a couple of photos of me with my furry friend. More photos of artwork to come.... guess who received a digi. camera from Santa?
Feb 20th
We have decided it is time to purchase a couple of rolls of mesh in order to cover the top of the chicken run. Thankfully, at present, the girls are still able to wander around the garden at will. I fear though that it will not be long before we are instructed to keep them in an enclosed area.
----------- -------
My heart goes out to all the Free Range/Organic chicken farmers who have been rearing and farming chickens properly (humanely) over the years. One cannot help but feel that if more farmers, worldwide, farmed less intensively and took more care with their land, crops, animals and birds - we would not all be in this position today. Fingers crossed that this situation is over and done with as quickly as possible.
Jan 9th
Back to the Studio after the Festivities, if you wish to call in and say Hi, please feel free.
Beg. of January
We have eggs!!!! Both Dottie, the Wyandotte and Sweet Pea, the Light Sussex have started to lay for us. We were told that they may not lay until Spring, so are very proud of them and delighted with their progress. They have grown-up and both are very pretty chickens - photos will be included shortly.
